We're almost there. We've almost survived the winter and made it through to spring. With just a few more weeks to go, I can almost smell spring coming. We had a taste of it the other weekend with the beautiful 60 degree day. It was beautiful and you can bet I took full advantage of it. I laced my running shoes up and got myself out on the road. As nice as a day or two like that is, it also makes it that much harder to wake up to the cold mornings again. Since the tail end of the winter can be challenging for mer, here are 5 ways to help you stay positive and healthy through this final stretch of winter.
1. Go Skiing. Time for skiing is running out. Skiing is a great way to get outside for an extended period throughout the winter even on the super cold days. You can get in some great exercise, have fun and feel the sun on your face all day long.
2. Take advantage of the beautiful days and the not so beautiful days. If the temperature breaks 50 degrees, no matter what your schedule is like, try your best to take a moment outside. If you can go for a run or walk, that's the way to go. If your schedule doesn't allow for it, try to find a moment to close your eyes and let the sun hit your face. On those not so beautiful days, especially those snow days when you find yourself trapped at home with your kidos, make the most of it and gear up and get out there and play with them in the snow.
3. Take advantage of indoor activities. Take yourself or your family bowling or to an indoor ropes course. Any indoor activity that becomes less appealing in the summer, is a good way to get through this tail end of winter. It also keeps your kids busy and active while having fun.
4. Stretch. Like a bear out of hibernation, take time to stretch out the body and celebrate the fact that you made it through all those winter months. Taking the time now to regain your flexibility (or work on it if it was never there!) is a super way to transition to those more active upcoming summer months.
5. Plan your summer vacation. Let's face it... there's nothing like the summer. Start to look forward to what's ahead and plan a trip. It will help you plan ahead and start to get you excited for what's ahead.
I hope these tips are helpful to help you crush these last few weeks of winter. The warmer weather is just ahead. CRUSH TIME!!
