I came across the above quote, and I had to stop. Isn't it so true? As we grow, mature and develop, we're constantly under new demands that push us to new heights. If we're not, we won't move forward. We stagnate. I've always believed through life and through fitness I try to achieve the best version of myself. Every day there are obstacles and struggles, but it's up to us to rise above them and do what we set out to do. As I reflect back on my life, especially since my divorce, it's evident I'm at a clear new level in my life. Though more challenging, it's better and more rewarding. In dealing with the aftermath of a divorce, just the challenge of managing my work schedule, maintaining a good home, and finding the time to get to the gym, all while being a single mom is enough to break anyone! Of course I have to do all this while trying to bring my business up to a new level of success. Yet through it all I've found that I have been pushing myself into unfamiliar territory, rising to new challenges, and forcing myself to do things I never would have imagined. These efforts have unlocked a new level of internal happiness and fulfillment for me. I am the same person I've always been in many ways, but I'm also a new and improved me. Although drastically different from a few years ago, despite it's challenges, my life is richer and sweeter than ever. Looking to 2016, I've set a new set of exhilarating goals for myself that will continue to force me outside my comfort zone. These goals allow me to push myself to grow and improve. Ask yourself what exactly it is that you want to achieve in 2016. If you're not sure where to start, try and just pick one personal goal. Choose a goal that will force you into unfamiliar territory and challenge you on multiple levels. What you want to achieve in this new year can be extremely complex, or quite straightforward. For example, on average, how many times a week did you get to the gym last year? Was it only about once per week? If so, your new goal could just be to get in that second day of working out each week. A third day would be amazing! That alone is enough of a change as it will take a shift in gears and attitude. It will require some organization and planning, but it can be done. In another way, perhaps you want to hire a trainer and really transform your body. Maybe the new challenge is simply to try a class you've been intimidated to take. The key is that, whatever the goal, it's always worth the effort! You'll come out a stronger, better and happier version of yourself. So, here's to 2016 and some kick ass goals! Here we go... ITS CRUSH TIME!
