I have heard the same thing from many of my clients recently... "Why does this feel so hard today?" And then I found myself asking myself the same question in the middle of my workout the other day. It's true that some days will feel more challenging than others based on several factors including sleep, rest between workouts, diet and stress. However, this question has been asked to me much more frequently than normal. I have attributed this to the Summer Lazy Spell. Now that we are about half way through the summer, many of us have had a full calendar of events including summer parties, vacations and golf tournaments and outings just to name a few. These times often call for a disruption in our routines, sleep schedules and diets. Just the other day when I was eating my eggs outside, I overheard three college girls talking at the coffee shop next door. They were complaining about how they look so much better in a bathing suits in the winter when they are all pale and covered up. By this time in the summer, they don't feel they look so good. That's because of all of the partying and events that take place once the weather starts to break in the later part of the spring and summer. I have to admit that I myself have fallen under the lazy spell this year. My calendar has been full and my stress level has been high. So, what am I going to do? Well... You better believe that I'm going to break the lazy spell immediately! The month of August I'm going to rededicate myself to me. The day I realized I was under this sneaky spell, I added an extra cardio session to my day. Although my calendar is not empty, I will protect my sleep, rest and diet needs with greater commitment and finish up the summer felling strong and fresh. For me this August is CRUSH TIME! I encourage you all to check in with yourselves and figure out if you have fallen under the lazy spell of summer. Whatever the case it, it's a new month and time to crush it! Need an extra push? You know where to find me! LET'S GO... IT'S CRUSH TIME!
